Different But the Same

I celebrate Christmas. But I know not everyone celebrates Christmas. And that's okay because it seems like the world would be awfully boring if everyone was the very same, don't you think?

So while I love caroling and Christmas trees, I'm glad I have friends who celebrate Hanukkah. Because it's nice to learn about something different. And I'm glad I have friends who observe Bodhi Day or who plan Winter Solstice parties and Chinese New Year parades. Because it's fun to participate in something new.

Mostly I guess I'm glad to have friends different from me.

I hope you're glad to have friends different from you, too.

  1. I'm glad I have friends who celebrate with bamboo christmas trees instead of pine, and raw almond-nog instead of egg-nog and who go to bed early rather than wait up for Santa Claus. Different is very, very good. :)
